Two thoughts are behind the word. First is to guard what you already have or else someone take if from you, and the second is the realization that an enemy is around so protection is needed. The enemy is materialism. It is time to wake up and realize that what counts in life can not be bought or acquired.We need to learn that more is not always better and that greed is a contagious virus that destroys what really counts. So beware! don't always be wishing for what you don't have.

House Dedication

Church Anniversary

Last September 25, 2011 was our 15th year anniversary of our church...How time flies really remembering the time we started this church with only 6 of us having worship service in our house and the next Sundays we hold it at one of the function rooms of Philtown Hotel and Restaurant. Then we were able to rent an area of a building near Cogon Market which was caught by fire and all the things acquired by the church at that time were turned to ashes But indeed, God is so faithful that He provided much more things for this church than that were lost. ..He even provided not only a building for us to worship Him but also the comforts of worshiping Him.

All glory belongs to Him alone!

This was the wedding of my grandniece a few days ago which I was one of her principal sponsor. It was a lively affair mostly attended by the grooms and the brides relatives. There was nothing unique in their reception as it was the usual Filipino way of celebrating with the newly weds.

My prayers to them; that God will be the center of their relationship, which is the secret of all successful and fruitful marriages I have known.

This photos were taken sometime in March 2008 when my youngest daughter, Love and family visited us. We went to Camiguin Island ( a part of our province) and stayed for a few days with the family of my other daughter, Mayette. This Island is one of the tourist spots in Mindanao which is not much developed so you will enjoy its natural beauty which you will rarely find its uniqueness in other places..There are many places you can go at Camiguin Island, hot and cold springs, swimming pool, white beach, water falls and many more.

Indeed, my grandkids enjoyed swimming to their delights and so with us. I hope we can go there again with all my children's family.

My 71st Birthday

I Praise God for giving me again one year bonus of my life. Thank God for His faithfulness and blessed me with a loving and thoughtful children, beautiful and handsome grandkids... What can I asked more from Him...

I had a simple celebration only in my special day, we just eat at Shakey's and when we went home, there was a surprised cake from my youngest daughter, Love who is residing with her family in Thailand....you must be wondering how was she able to send it... well, she just let my grandniece bought it for her from Red Ribbon.

Love is fun of surprises during my birthdays. In my 65th birthday she surprises me on her presence with her hubby and daughter at the Middleton Appertelle and on my 68th birthday, my children gave me with a surprised grand party celebration at De Luxe Hotel and again she and her children were present that evening. Oh! it never occurred in my mind that they can come especially they greet me on the video which was presented earlier on that affair. Yes, that is how love expressed her love to me... Isn't great. huh?

Yes! All Glory belongs only to God....

SM kiddie Fashion

Last month SM Cagayan de Oro hold a Toon Fest, "SM CdO Toon Fest Activate Your Style". A child can participate on this affair if one just bought a children wear with a cartoon character, like Garfield, Princess, Barbie and others. This is a nationwide fest of SM, in fact it is still on going now with other branches through out the country.

Well, it was only Zboy my grandson (daughter of Mayette) who was to participate on this day. But when we were already at SM and Zboy were lining up to register, his sister Zane girl cried so much to que in line also. So. what we did, we just decided to buy her a Garfied dress so she can participate to ramp on the stage.

We were anxious how she will ramp on the stages as she has no practice whatsoever. But we were amazed when her name was called up because without hesitation she came up to the stage and ramp like a pro model.Yes, we were surprised that she was able to ramp to and fro on the stages unlike some of the kids of her age (3 years old) where too shy to ramp.

Indeed, it was a relief, though she and Zboy did not win but their experience was already a victory for them.. Perhaps next time if there is another kiddie fashion at least they can do more base on their experience. Worth it, is it not?

The Wedding

This was the wedding reception of my niece which was held at Harbor Lights Hotel and Restaurant. It was a unique wedding I had attended so far because they had a Lantern Parade. I just remembered this was one of the highlights of the Lantern Festival in Hatyai, Thailand when we were there last year.There was also, so much goodies which were nicely presented as you can see in the background of the picture. By the way, with me in this photo is my niece also(a first cousin of the newly wed) who is my legal counsel.

Indeed, it was a fun and a lively affair as all the visitors enjoyed that evening. There was a time of singing and dancing to the delights of their friends. I just pray that they will have harmonious and prosperous married life.

My Visit

This picture was taken when we visited one of my favorite niece whose family is now residing at Butuan City.She works at one of the government offices there and her husband works also in one of the government bank at the same place. She is one of the children of my eldest sister. This is our first time to come and visit her family but unfortunately her husband was on travel. We ate our dinner in their house, though we had stayed for a few hours only but we enjoyed each other fellowship. She is at the third from the left sited besides me.

A 3 days Out

Last few days I was with the family of Mayette and with Renzee my eldest grandson to Amontay Beach Resorts.Well, it was another experience for my grandkids,enjoying swimming early in the morning and late in the afternoon. You see, Amontay Beach Resorts is a very nice place to stay especially if you are into water sports because they have plenty of amenities for these...Zboy enjoyed the pool ball...Renzee was not able to use the pool ball as his weight can not be handled so he just enjoyed swimming with Zane girl. Amontay Beach Resort not only have water sports amenities but also land sports amenities like ATV motor bike.

Yes, we only wished that this Beach Resort is located in Cagayan de Oro so we can come often with my other children during holidays, but this is located at Nasipit, Agusan del Norte which can take many hours drive from our place. I believe families from Butuan City comes to this place always as it is only a 30 minutes drive to arrive for them to this resort.

But does God actually bear our burdens? And if so, what does that mean? It means that He cares about what happening to us. The book of Hebrews tells us that nothing is hidden from Him and everything is seen by Him. Yes, He knows our faults. But He also knows the desires of our heart, our struggles to do right and the sensitivity that brings us to our knees when we fall. God also works through friends to bear our burdens.

The Wedding

The newly weds is my grand nephew, actually he is the grand nephew of my elder sister. The wedding ceremony was a solemn one and it was in the reception when everybody enjoyed celebrating the occasion. It was well attended by the relatives and friends.

My best wishes for them, that they will have a harmonious life together, that God will be the center of their relationship always.

These are the pictures of the kids who joined the McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop where my 3 grand kids participated. This is done every summer here in our place and I am sure also in all of McDonald chain in the country. There was a registration fee but uniforms were provided with a backpack and were given free snacks. It was a one week workshop for 3 hours only. Of course! my grand kids enjoyed the event, having experience new activities and had acquainted many friends that they said by next year they will join again the workshop.

There is a big difference between getting anger out of your system by yelling and screaming and releasing anger in such a way that there is no steam to blow off. It is no wonder that apostle Paul advised us to have a peace with everyone, if possible. Anger is a killer. If you want to enjoy life, learn to walk away from anger and let God deal with the person who angers you. It is a key to living longer and enjoying life more. Living at peace with those who annoy you is a decision that turns your heart into a refuge of peace regardless of what happens.

My Niece Visit

This is my niece setting at the right side holding my grandkid and at her back is her daughter, Sam. Well, for a very long time we did not see each other until this day. She was still in her teens when she was always taking her vacation in our place during summer days. because at that time they were still staying in Cebu with her mother. And now, her 2 daughters are grown ups, her eldest daughter is now studying in Washington being a U.S. citizens as her husband is from Hawaii. You can imagine the years that we have not seen each other so we had a good time chatting with each other.

I just hope we can see each other again in a few years from now.

Hope has an enemy that eats away tomorrow's hope. It is worry, which causes us to think that tomorrow will be no different from today, or that yesterday's failure will catch up with us today and thus destroy tomorrow. Thank God for His forgiveness that helps us through the minefield of human failure. It might not cancel out all of the results of our failures but knowing that God has forgiven us will help us take His hand and face tomorrow.

Last Sunday was the celebration of Mothers Day in our Church. It was very touching when the children before giving their bouquet to their respective Mothers uttered some words of gratitude, thanksgiving for the love, cares and some hardship mothers encountered while bringing up their children. All the Mothers concerned were all teary eyed and some cried for joy, they least expected that their children poured out their feelings towards them.

Praise God for those moments that Mothers felt joy in their hearts for the acknowledgment of their children that they too are being loved by them.

Last April 17, 2011 was the Birthday Party of my youngest granddaughter, Zane who turned 3 years old. It was held at De Luxe Hotel. The theme was Tinker Bell as she is fond of watching this cartoon character.

Indeed, it was a successful party because the children enjoyed the games and other gimmicks plus we invited a magician who did tricks with the children delights. Some parents even send messages informing us that their children had enjoyed the party and being thankful for inviting them.

Yes, the cross and the passion of Christ who died on that tree is unsettling and disturbing. It bears a powerful message that Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world as the Scripture says. It was my sin and yours that brought Him to that place. The cross is not a trinket, inconsequential in its meaning. It was the fulfillment of centuries of prophecies, the rationale that enabled reconciliation with God. It was the intersection of my sin with God's love, and its triumph means I can find forgiveness, healing and hope.

My sister's birthday

Last April 9 was the birthday of my elder sister, Nene. She is already 82 years old and still very healthy. She is staying with her youngest daughter at Medina, Misamis Oriental so we came all the way from Cagayan de Oro which is 2 hours ride just to attend her birthday party. I am very sure it was a happy moments of my sister then because it was well attended by her children and grandchildren. My grandkids also enjoyed swimming in their beautiful beach. My prayers for her, that God will give her more bonus years with a satisfying life here on earth.

My nephew's family

This are the family of my nephew (son of the brother of my late husband). He and his wife just arrived from Ireland where they are working in one of the hospital there. Yearly, they are here for a visit to their children left here in the Philippines. They are also one of our closest relative. They treated us at the Starbucks with Mayette's (my daughter) family, when we met at the mall for a long chitchat and eat our dinner in their house.

At Changi Airport

The above pictures were taken at Changi Airport in Singapore. As I had posted I was alone in going back to the Philippines as my other daughter, Beam's family went ahead in going home because of their works. So, we decided that my exit to the Philippines was Singapore as my nephew and nieces were there at that time having their vacation. They met me at the airport when I arrived from Hatyai, Thailand. Indeed it was a joyous and enjoyable travel being with them besides taking care of me. They are the children of my eldest daughter who are very close to me. I can't imagined if I was alone in my travel as we spent many hours at the NAIA airport waiting for our domestic flight the following day. Praise God! for their lives.

A Train Experience

The above pictures were taken in the train. We rode in the train going to Bangkok for our flight to Vietnam. You see, the residence of Love's family in Thailand is located at the South and it is a very far distance for the capital city, Bangkok. So in order to reach this place one can take a plane, a train or a bus. We decided to just ride in a train with the group from the Philippines (my other daughter Beam's family and some church members) for some experience. And besides the group from the Philippines also were having their flight back to the Philippines so we thought it was more fun and more time to be with them. Well, it was really a great experience, the inconvenience and the noise of the train and so much time incurred on our travel. That is why when we returned to Bangkok from Vietnam we decided to take the domestic flight back to the place of Love's family.

With my best friend

When I went to Thailand last November 2010, I was with my best friend, Clem and her sister, Lingay. We were together in traveling from the Philippines to Bangkok, Thailand and then to the southern part of Thailand which is Hatyai. where my youngest daughter's family is residing. Clem and Lingay just stay overnight in Hatyai and proceeded their tour to Malaysia and then to Singapore. I was left alone with the family of Beam, my other daughter with her family and some of our church leaders. You see. Lingay, the sister of Clem is residing in Hawaii so it was her first time to visit Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore as she has been to other Asian countries as well. I've found out later they had an enjoyable tour.

"Why did this happen to me?" is always the question asked when some one is on a difficult situation. Has that question ever come from your heart? So does God simply ignore your questions? Or does He answer in ways that you find hard to understand and, therefore, you assume He is ignoring you? First. God understand the anguish of your heart, and fortunately, is more understanding with you than you are with Him. Second, God is not obligated to explain everything that happens to us. God is God and He answers no one. Sometimes we look back in retrospect and understand clearly why something happened, but in most cases if God should tell us why something happened, we still couldn't understand. Far better it is to know that He cares and will eventually lead us out of our pain than to know why He allowed it.

Missing again Jinggoy's family

Jinggoy, my eldest son and his family were here for a visit...Oh, it was only for a few days that his daughters were not able to spend much time bonding with their cousins as it was school days. But of course we were able to have outings, dinning out and visited the grave of my late husband at Oro Gardens. Indeed, though it was a short time only but I know my grand kids enjoyed every minute of it.. Here are the photos:

With me in this photo are my children. Jinggoy my eldest and only son, Beam at far right is next to Jinggoy and Mayette at my back is my third daughter. Hopefully this coming Christmas, Love my youngest daughter and her family will be with us. I am looking forward and excited on this day because Jinggoy and Love's families will be spending their holiday seasons with us. As time flies so fast, I know that date will just come soon. yehey!

Overnight at the Airport

This is the airport at Hanoi, Vietnam.. with me is my daughter in law when they met us at the airport.

This is inside the airport at Bangkok. Tricia was busy on her drawings while waiting for our flight to Hanoi at early morning. Later on she was able to sleep at the bench. lol!

Indeed, it was tiresome waiting overnight at the airport for our flight from Thailand to Vietnam. You see, our flight to Vietnam was early morning the next day so we decided to stay overnight at the airport to be punctual on our flight the next day rather staying on the hotel which is impractical for our flight schedule. Well, I found out our stay overnight at the airport was safe. Praise God!

Acknowledging God is there puts us on the side of majority; but if we go beyond acknowledging Him, we allow Him to touch our lives, to invade our space with His presence, and to guide and direct our lives. God never forces Himself on us. He is far more interested in us than we are in Him. He created us and put within our hearts a void that only He can fill. Today ask Him to go before us, to walk with us, and to let us sense He is there. He will! God makes a difference.

Lantern Festival in Hat Yai

When I was in Hat Yai, Thailand, it happened that it was the start of their Lantern Festival which will end on February 28, 2011. Indeed, it was worth visiting and imagine no entrance fee required. The event is held at an open area and it was good because it was not raining at that time when we went there. My grandkids from the Philippines and the kids of Love enjoyed the most. As we walked around the park with pendant lighting, we found a lot more interesting and beautiful lanterns with exquisite designs. Yes! it was my first time to see those kind of lanterns.

I was already in Thailand when I went to Vietnam to visit my son, that is why Love and Tricia (my daughter and grandkid) were able to go with me. After our trip in Vietnam I went back to Thailand to stay more days with them. As it was my 6th times to be there, we did not go anymore to some places instead we just spend our time at home and dining out always.You can see the evidence....lol!

Indeed, I praise God! for the privileged of bonding with the family of Love especially with my grandkids. It was a happy and enjoyable moments to be with them.

How much better to face the dark night of our soul and to learn that His grace is sufficient; that God is big, powerful and caring enough to meet us at the point of our greatest need, than to face difficulty.

The photos above are some of the establishments, business and buildings that have not been there 3 years ago but is now successfully operating. But still some old business enterprises are existing and operating. Like in one of the pictures above, Vietnamese are used to eat noodles on the sidewalks. so that you can still see these business selling noodles around in their old areas.

Indeed, I praised God for the privileged of visiting Vietnam a memorable one, not only spending time bonding with my son's family especially my grand daughters but we got to feel and experience Vietnam.

Bonding with my son's family (Part 3)

What I notice in Vietnam are their many lakes, some are man made according to my daughter in law. In this picture is one of the lakes located at the city center , where tourist can ride in the car (below photo) run by electronic touring around the lake and to some of their business center. It is in these area where paid comfort rooms are located that we experienced an unusual behavior which is a little bit a culture shock to us. This is what happened,. Love (my daughter) and I went to use the CR. There were only few person around and it was my turn first who went inside the CR and after me, Love went inside, but lo! when she was already inside, another lady step in too with her. She was shock, so she just step outside and let the lady do her thing. Oh! ! what a culture shock for us. We had mixed feelings imagining the incident. Well, Jeaneth (Dil) said that it happens also in a fitting rooms, even if you are already inside fitting the dress you want to buy, somebody just go in and fit also a dress. whew! Another incident Love experience was in the escalator in one of the malls, she was push by a well dress lady to overtake her, it was good she was holding the rail so she did not fall down. Yes, there are many culture shock you will encounter in VN according to one of the church mates of my son's family for she is new also on that place.

But, anyway, I do not condemn them instead it is one of the countries I am praying for. They are now a fast developing country in which they boomed at such a very short time. I will be posting more pictures later on.
