My Belated Birthday Gifts

The camera you are looking at the picture is my belated birthday gift from my son in law, Manny, the husband of Mayette. Now with new camera, I can always take pictures unlike before when I would just borrow my daugthers' cameras.

This blouse is my belated birthday gift from my daughter, Love. She and her family just arrived from Malaysia and they gave me this beautiful Bossini blouse.

This beautiful sleeping gown was given to me by my niece, Grace (Amazing Grace). Actually, she just knew my birthday through my blog that is why she bought the gift late. She told me she will continue the legacy of her mother, Purie (my sister) to always remember my birthday. Please read my post, My dear Sister.

These are all my belated birthday gifts, though they're late but worth it.

fpf #16 - Lapulapu City

This was taken on January 2005 when we sent off my daughter, Love and her daughter,Tricia for Singapore. Their departure flight to Singapore was from Cebu so we spent some days in Cebu for sightseeing before their departure. In this picture is Mayette, Love and Tricia in front of the monument of Lapulapu where the place is named after. After Love and Tricia boarded their flight for Singapore, Mayette, Manny and I sailed a boat for Cagayan de Oro on the same night. This was the time when there were no cheap flights from Cagayan de Oro to Cebu yet, so the passengers had to take a boat going to and fro the places.

My Sister's Birthday

Last October 31, 2009 was my sister's (Marcela) birthday. Her children gave a party for the occasion. She is already 83 years old and still strong for her age. She is blessed because her children are successful in their businesses and have high position in their works. One of her daughters is renting our commercial building in Tinao, a 15 minutes ride from the city proper for a Car Wash business.

It was a joyful celebration because all of her children, niece, nephews and other relatives was there to greet her. My other sisters was there too to gave her warm greetings.

My prayer for my sister is that, may God to continue to bless her with good health and more years to celebrate her natal day. She told me that she is ready to meet the Lord in heaven after her favorite grandchild becomes a registered nurse. Her grandchild, Checky is now busy in her review classes for her nursing board this coming end of November this year. May God continue to grant the desires of her heart. God bless my sister!

My children went to Bigby's Cafe yesterday. I wasn't able to go with them because I was not feeling well. The dish above is the one ordered by my daughter. They told me that their pork chop tastes so delicious.

My apologies for a delayed entry, I was not feeling very well the past two days so I was not able to post my Friday Photo Flashback on time.

Here is my FPF entry for today:

I could not recall when this picture was taken but I am sure this was at a wedding of one of the friend's children in which me and my late husband were one of the wedding sponsors.

wfw # 20 Act of Worship

Romans 12:1 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God__ this is your spiritual act of worship."

Paul wrote to believers in Rome and told them that their bodies should be living sacrifice given to God as the altar of commitment. Giving yourself in commitment to Jesus Christ and His cause isn"t something that you do in a passionate act of surrender. It's something you have to do every day as you say, "Lord, I"m Yours! Whatever you order today I will obey."

My House

A week ago, 8 pastors from Manila stayed in our house for 3 days. They attended a seminar about People Management at Semilya Training Center located at Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon a 45 minutes ride from Cagayan de Oro City. The 'stay-in' seminar lasted for 5 days and after the seminar they stayed in our house.
The following day they went for water rafting. They planned to go to Camiguin Island earlier but had to cancel it for some reasons. My son in law who's also our pastor toured them around the city the next day after their water rafting. Then on Sunday each of the Pastor was invited to preach in different Christian churches in the city.

They told me they truly enjoyed their stay and they are also looking forward to be back here with their families next time and they will not miss to go to Camiguin Island.

When they left on Monday morning back to Manila, they prayed for me and thanked me for giving them the priviledge to stay in our place.

After this event, I remembered that many years ago when we were still staying at Nazareth Subdivision, we had a visitor in the church who prophesied that my house will welcome pastors and missionaries from different places. And indeed that prophecy has been fulfilled as now that we are in Balulang since we have already welcomed a number of some missionaries and pastors to stay in our place.

YS # 13: Fish Tinola

My entry for this week is "Fish Tinola". Now that I am 69 years old, I am now more conscious about the foods that I ate. Though I can eat everything but it's always good to eat foods which are low in cholesterol just like this one. It's also very healthy when you mixed it with green leafy vegetables.

FPF# 14 - Baguio City

This picture was taken during the late 80's at Baguio City when we attended a conference of our organization which we were active before. The conference was held in Manila and then we proceeded to Baguio City for sightseeing. This trip was truly unforgettable for me because a few days after we left Baguio there was a great earthquake and the 5-star hotel ( I already forgot the name) which we stayed came to rubble and many had died. That was such a horrible event but we Praise God because He spared our lives.

Matthew 5:24 "Leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."

Restoration is coming home ....... to your spouse, to your brother, to your GOD. It is the end of the journey that God wants you to take.

All Souls Day

Every 2nd of November every year, is All Souls Day in the Philippines. It is a holiday in our country so almost everybody goes to the different cemeteries to visit their loved ones who already passed away.

My children and I went to Oro Gardens where my late husband's body was buried. We had our lunch there and in the afternoon my sisters, nephew and nieces came bringing along some delicious food for our snack. We had a great fellowship while all the kids and grandchildren enjoyed playing with their kites and running around the spacious ground. The burial grounds are not yet congested because it is quite a new memorial park.

I am thankful of this tradition because aside from Christmas holiday, this is also a time for family bonding.(with two my sisters)

My sister in law

Here is my photo with my sister in law - Mameng as she is fondly called but her real name is Carmen. She is the elder sister of my late husband, Leonel. I truly Praise God for Mameng's life for she is now going to church with us together with her family. She is also residing in Balulang (Caballero's Compound) but only at the roadside while my children and I are residing at the Riverside.

Mameng is also a widow now as her husband passed away a year ago. Her only son's family is also very close to our family that we consider them as a part of our immediate family. Now that Mameng and I are of the same church I know that we will also become closer with her adopted children as we will be seeing each other more often now.

Mayette, my daughter is actually very close to Mameng ever since she was still small. She actually got her skill in cooking from her. We were neighbors then at Nazareth Subdivision and Mayette was always going to her house. You see, their house was just beside our house that it looked like a duplex house from afar.

I truly thank God that now we are of the same church so we will be always be in fellowship with each other.

wfw # 18 Whatever you Do!

This pictures were taken during the "camping bible study fellowship" of our less privileged neighborhood kids.

Proverbs 16:3 - " Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."

Whatever you do includes everything you do..... nothing exempted. The Bible makes it clear that whatever you do is a reflection on HIM who called you to serve Him, and when you do less that your best, you dishonor your Father in Heaven.

My Birthday Treat From My Bestfriend

This is a delayed update from my Birthday Series.

The next day after my birthday, my bestfriend Clem and I had a day out. We went to Lim Ket Kai Mall and she gave me a Lunch treat at Shakey's Pizza. She also bought a ladies bag as my birthday gift from her. Below is the picture of the bag.

Well, we had a great time spending together and at 4:00 p.m. we left the mall because my daughter Beam and family were already waiting for me at Philtown Hotel for us to attend our close family friend's Children's Party and Wedding Anniversary Celebration.

And by the way, this was the Birthday cake I received from Clem's daughter, Dimple and family. If you can see it looked messy because my nephew who brought the cake only rode the motorcycle so, the cake wasn't carried securely. But then, it was still very yummy because it was a cake from our favorite cake shop, Red Ribbon.
